‘Run against drugs’ organised in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Welfare Committee of Makhdoom Sahib held a race with the theme ‘Run against drugs’. The race was flagged off by SHO Nowhatta Wasim Ahmad, who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The race was sponsored and facilitated by Police Station Nowhatta, Apprentice Technologies and Fort City Sports Club.
More than 50 boys from the locality participated in the race which started from Gunj Baksh Park, Nowhatta and culminated at Nigeen Water Sports Center.
Atif Saleem Kitaba, Sameem Makhdoomi and Fardeen Basharat Saleem were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. Seven years old, Asad Ul Haq was the youngest to complete the race.
The Chief Guest distributed the prizes among the position holders. He appreciated Welfare Committee for taking initiative against drug menace. He also spoke about the increasing drug menace in the society and advised participants to help police in eradicating the drug menace.
Director Apprentice Technologies Syed Midhat and President Welfare Committee Haji Mohammad Yousuf Makhdoomi were present on the occasion.
