AKHNOOR: Akhnoor XI defeated Jammu XI by four runs in a friendly match played at Government (Boys) Higher Secondary School, here on Monday.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Akhnoor XI set a target of 189 runs for seven wickets in given 20 overs game. Manik Sharma and Sonu Manhas remained top scorers with 62 and 50 runs respectively while Sunil Sharma (18) and Pankaj Kumar (17) were other main scorers.
For Jammu XI, Satish took three wickets and Happy bagged two. Rana and Manjeet shared apiece each.
In reply, Jammu XI could make 184 losing all their wickets. Atul Sharma with (42), Satish (22), Puneet (47) and Manjeet Singh (18) were highest scorers. For Akhnoor XI, Arush Chandan and Sny Mahi shared three wickets each, followed by Parveen Sharma two and Pankaj Sharma one.
For taking three crucial wickets, Arush Chandan was adjudged Man of the Match.
The prizes to the winning team and Man of the Match were given away by President Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor, Sham Singh Langeh, who was Chief Guest.
