KATHUA: Forest Division (Territorial), Social Forestry Division Kathua in collaboration with District Hospital celebrated Van Mahotsav in the District Hospital on Wednesday.
DC/DDC, Kathua Dr. Sahid Iqbal, was the Chief Guest of the function. The DFO, Kathua Territorial and Social Forestry, CMO, Kathua, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Kathua, district level officers of other wings of Forest Department, executive engineers and other district officers, students of ANMT and ASHA workers participated in the function.
The celebration started with tree planting by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the Occasion, the DFO, Social Forestry Sagar Singh highlighted the importance of trees outside forest area in the development of J and K economy. The CMO, highlighted the need for tree plantation for the cleaner environment and the role of trees in keeping the air cleaner.
The DFO, Kathua DR. B. Balaji, highlighted the role of forests in ecological balance and environmental stability. He stressed that each and every individual by way of planting a tree every year can play a role of responsible citizen.
The Deputy Commissioner/District Development Commissioner, praised the collaborative efforts taken by Forest department and District Hospital. He asked Forest Department to take up large number of such awareness creating activities with school and college students and other institutions. He has informed that as steps taken in Reasi, Green Voter Campaign will be launched very soon and in that Forest department will play an important role.
