JKAACL organises programme on folk music

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organised traditional folk music programme at community Hall, Khandwal, here on Saturday.
Raj Singh, Numberdar, Khandwal was the Chief Guest while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL was also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Raj Singh appreciated the role of academy in this traditional folk music programme here at Khandwal for the first time. He also hoped more such activities in near future.
Dr Amn said that academy initiated its activities in the rural and remote areas focusing youth to be a part of such activities.
He further said that such traditional programmes will not only encourage towards the rich old tradition and heritage but also help them to realise the importance of this old traditional wealth which urgently requires to be documented and preserved.
He also appreciated the participating folk parties of the area and thanked the prominent residents of the area for their support in organising this function.
The folk parties who performed Dogri folk music include Shiv Ram and Party (Prahladpur), Joginder Singh and Party (Kallian), Ved Prakash and Party (Mangu Chak), Ganesh Dutt and Party (Mandal), Jeet Ram and Party (Sajjad Pur), Durga Das and Party (Gosain Chak) and Ganga Ram and Party( Gosain Chak).
The vote of thanks and proceedings of the programme were conducted by Bishan Das, Assistant Cultural Officer of Academy.
Among others those present included Dr Rakesh Kumar, Dhruv Singh, Krishan Lal, Tara Chand, students of Government Middle School, Khandwal and local audience.
