Labour Department inspects NHW works

RAMBAN: Labour Department conducted inspection of the ongoing four-laning work on National Highway (NHW) besides railway tunnels in from Ramban to Banihal on Saturday.
The inspection was conducted by a team of officers headed by Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Ramban Ganshyam Basotra.
During the inspection ALC interacted with the construction workers and labourers and advised them to avail maximum benefits from various government schemes meant for their welfare. He said that the department and board are working in tandem for the development and welfare of the labour class.
He further advised the construction companies to take necessary safety measures during the construction work.
He stressed upon the unregistered labourers to register their-self with J and KBOCWWB and Labour Department for availing the benefits of schemes meant for welfare, upliftment and providing a financial security to the labour class as well as their families.
He said that for education of wards of workers an assistance of Rs 2500 to Rs 10,000 is being provided for lower education, Rs 15,000 for post graduation, Rs 30,000 for diploma courses and Rs 50,000 for professional courses.
