Articles 35A and 370 have done nothing good for the State, except to continually retain Jammu and Kashmir’s status as a Muslim-majority State. It has deprived the State of big industries and employment opportunities for the youth. It has also divided the State on regional and religious lines. One main region is continuously discriminated against. However, Farooq Abdullah is right that any attempt to abrogate the Articles will lead to disturbance in the State. It is easy to provide a privilege but it is very difficult to withdraw it.
