JAMMU: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua M A Chowdhary rejected the bail application of Liaqat Ali alias Gashi a Govt. School Teacher from whom 38 kilograms of poppy was recovered. Principal Sessions Judge Kathua M A Chowdhary after hearing both the sides took strong note on the growing use of narcotics by young generation. Use of narcotic has led to a detrimental impact on the society. It has led to increase in the crime with most of the narcotic users being in the productive age, the loss in terms of human potential is incalculable. This menace requires to be controlled at the very origin. Government of Jammu & Kashmir and the law enforcement agencies including Narcotic Control Bureau do not seem to be serious to be alive to this growing menace, despite the fact that hundreds of youth have died due to overdose of the drugs. Government should regulate the supply of the medicinal drugs so that their misuse/abuse is minimized. With these observations Court rejected the bail application of the teacher.
