‘JKAACL’s efforts to revive Kashmiri culture in Jammu’

JAMMU: J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Friday started a new series of cultural and literary activities completely based on Kashmiri traditional culture.
The academy has taken this initiative on the persistent demand of the local Kashmiri organisations with a view to revive this centuries old traditional culture of Kashmir in Jammu for young generations.
Dr. Rattan Lal Shant, a prominent litterateur of Kashmiri language presided over the function who also delivered a key-note address on Kashmiri culture. Besides him, Dr. R.L Bhat, another leading personality of Kashmiri fraternity shared the presidium.
Earlier delivering his presidential address, Dr. R.L Shant expressed his gratitude to the academy for starting this series especially to revive the Kashmiri culture among the youth of the Kashmir who have settled here in Jammu after the turmoil in Kashmir.
Ashok Ghowhar, a well known learned personality in Kashmiri language also presented a lecture on the Barang area of Kokarnaag and its cultural importance.
Today’s programme was into two phases literary and musical. In musical part, Pawan Kumar Bhat, Rahul Bhat, Pooja Pandita and Raghav Pandita mesmerised the audience with their melodious voices and the accompanists were Roshan Saraf (Tumbaknari), Anil Koul (Khanjari) and Rajesh Handoo(Tabla).
The programme was conducted by Tej Sagar and vote of thanks was delivered by Anil Tickoo, Assistant Cultural Officer, JKAACL.
Prominent among the audience were Kusum Dhar, Rajinder Agosh, Bhushan Lal Bhat, Manmohan Munshi, P.N Trisal, Tej Krishan Dhar, Roshan Lal Raina, Pintu, Bhushan Lal Dhar and Pyare Lal Bhat.
