Cop who foiled bid to snatch his rifle rewarded

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday rewarded a constable after he foiled a weapon snatching attempt in a bank in the Charar-e-Sharief area of Budgam District.
DGP S.P Vaid presented a certificate along with a cash reward of Rs 10,000 to constable Farooq Ahmed, a police spokesman said here. The incident took place on August 7 when three men tried to snatch a rifle from Ahmed, deployed as a guard, at the J-K Bank’s Charar-i-Sharief branch in central Kashmir, but the vigilant policeman foiled their attempt.
