Jammu: The power supply in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda and Kishtwar districts remained suspended on Wednesday for the second day following damage to a transmission tower in Udhampur, officials said.
The tower maintained by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) at Thard village had tilted yesterday afternoon, they said. “Efforts are on to restore the electricity to the Doda- Kishtwar belt. The NHPC experts are on the job and had set a deadline of 6.30 pm for restoration of the service, but due to some technical problem the power supply could not be restored,” Power Development Department (PDD) official told PTI.
The job is almost done and now minor technical issue need to be resolved, he said, adding that the tower apparently titled due to heavy rains that triggered a number of landslides in the area.
One of the landslides also uprooted the Kishanpur-Pampore transmission tower on July 31, the restoration of which would cost a around Rs 50 lakh, he said.
