Raksha Bandhan celebrated with fervour across region

BHADARWAH : Raksha Bandhan festival, which symbolises the love and duty between brothers and sisters, was celebrated with gaiety, fraternity and chastity throughout Chenab Valley on Monday.

The festival was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety with sisters tying Rakhis on the wrists of their brothers. Sisters tied Rakhis to their brothers praying for their long and prosperous life, and in turn, the brothers also promised to protect their sisters.
Meanwhile, the markets across the Chenab Valley were abuzz with activities with girls and women buying colourful and varied Rakhis and gifts for their brothers.
Sweetshops also did brisk business as women and girls bought sweets to serve to their brothers, after tying Rakhi. All temples including Vasuki Nag, Gupt Ganga, Chandi Mata and others witnessed heavy rush, especially in the morning.
The temples were also beautifully decorated to make the occasion festive. Special prayers were also held for the prosperity of the State.
Meanwhile, many students of Kishtwar visited army unit of Kishtwar and tied Rakhi on the wrists of jawans, who are far from their family especially sisters,on this auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
SAMBA: The District administration visited various families of Gurha Slathia, Vijaypur having no girl child and celebrated Raksha Bandhan with them. The team of officials was led by Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda and comprised of SDM Vijaypur Ravinder Sharma, CMO Samba Dr Rajinder Samyal , DSWO Mushtaq Choudhary , DyCMO Rita Kotwal, CDPO Sandeep Gupta,Tehsildar Vijaypur, BMO Ramgarh and other senior officials.
On the occasion, girls from nearby areas also accompanied the DC to celebrate Rakhi, tying the sacred thread on wrists of boys having no sisters. Later, the DC interacted with Angwanwadi and ASHA workers of the area and asked them to work continuously towards improving the sex ratio and providing girls all other relevant services in the district.
RAJOURI: District administration, Rajouri organised celebration of Rakshabandhan festival at Nari Niketan. The institution manned by Social Welfare Department has enrolment of 30 students.
District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, PO ICDS Mohd Rashid Choudhary, ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir, DSWO Dr Abdul Khabir, AD FCS&CA Javed Iqbal, Tehsildar Salam Din and other officers led the team of district administration in organising an impressive Rakshabandhan celebration at Nari Niketan.
Dress material, uniforms, stationery items, sweets and other items were distributed among the member women at Nari Niketan hostel while they tied Rakhis to the officers and team of officials. Students tied Rakhi on wrist of visiting officers and exchanged sweets.

DDC Dr Shahid interacted with inmates and sought their suggestions for improvement in services and facilities at the Nari Niketan. He also underscored the initiatives of department for development of Nari Niketan under convergence during current year for providing model facilities. He informed that army is also collaborating in providing facilities at the institution. A committee headed by DDC and comprising of DSWO, CMO, CEO District Information Officer, AD FCS and CA and Tehsildar Rajouri has been constituted for development of model facilities of education, tuition, food, in-house facilities, hostel, first-aid and other basic amenities in a time-bound manner.
NOWSHERA: The festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated in the town with great zeal and zest in which sisters tied thread around the wrist of brothers and prayed for their long lives. In turn brothers assured their sisters to provide her protection throughout her life. Meanwhile the girls from various schools tied Rakhis on the wrists of soldiers protecting borders of the country and assured them that they are also with them and praying for their safety and security.
