JAMMU: Indian Cine and Television Artists have started online petition which will be delivered to Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Smriti Irani against the cruel and pathetic guidelines issued by Prasar Bharti, recently.
While issuing press statement, Mushtaq Kak, Convener of Indian Cine and Television Artists, said that Doordarshan had been commissioning television programmes to various producers for the last many years and due to this practice of commissioning of programmes, hundreds of producers, production houses had emerged during the last two to three decades in different parts of the country.
Launching a scathing attack on Prasar Bharti, he said that new guidelines are frequently framed from time to time and then changed as per the whims and fantasies of Doordarshan authorities without giving any justification and logics. He warned if such wicked gimmicks of Prasar Bharti continue then this would force the butchering of thousands of creative people across the country.
Kak further said that students passed out from various mass media institutions would be discouraged to join this stream and this is against the mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Skilled India and Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. He further said skilled industry of India must be saved from these hostile policies adopted by Prasar Bharti. “We want more transparent procedures where creativity is given preference and not just the financial turnover or the size of the producers. Thousands of people from media fraternity are signing the petition and soon this signed petition will be presented to I&B Minister Smriti Irani and CEO Prasar Bharti”, he added.
