JAMMU: Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat on Friday set deadline for the completion of various infrastructural facilities coming up at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for providing quality education and adequate facilities for the comfortable stay of the medical students.
The minister was speaking during a meeting convened to review the status of various ongoing projects on the Medical College campus.
He directed the officers of PWD (R&B) and Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to expedite the pace of construction work to complete the work within set deadlines.
The meeting discussed the bottlenecks in the construction of Examination Hall, Central Library and Students’ Hostels.
The minister directed the JKPCC to complete the construction of Examination Hall within two months and finish the pending work of Girls and Boys Hostels to hand over the buildings to the College by October end.
He asked the GMC management to remain constant touch with the executing agencies and work in synergy for smooth and timely completion of all infrastructural facilities.
Listing measures being taken by the government to improve healthcare in the state, the Minister said providing quality medical education to the students and construction of additional infrastructure are major areas towards achieving the goal.
