Sale deeds, Rs 2.4 lakh cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh recovered

KATHUA: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) on Thursday booked Gian Chand Sharma, Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO), Kathua for allegedly issuing AAY/BPL ration cards to undeserving persons and held simultaneous raids at his residences in Roopnagar and Billawar, and offices at Kathua and Hiranagar.
On the basis of enquiry conducted by SVO and prima facie establishment of allegations regarding issuance of large number of AAY/BPL ration cards to un-deserving and non-entitled persons by Gian Chand Sharma the then TSO Hiranagar in connivance and conspiracy with Sarpanchs and other private beneficiaries, thereby depriving the real beneficiaries under these categories and causing wrongful loss to the Government, an FIR 28/ 2017 under Section 5(1)(c)(d) read with Section 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt.2006, 420 RPC and 120-B of RPC was registered at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu.
Different teams of the Vigilance Department conducted simultaneous raids with the help of local police on Thursday at his residences in Roopnagar (Jammu), Palni Parnalla (Billawar) and offices in Kathua and Hiranagar.
During the process, all relevant record/suspicious documents required in the investigation and pertaining to illegally acquired assets which have been recovered from various locations have been seized on spot in presence of independent witnesses.
The seized assets /documents include sale deeds regarding property worth lakhs of rupees, cash amounting to Rs 2,44,000, gold ornaments worth Rs. 15,00,000, and some other official record was also recovered from his residential house at Roopnagar Jammu.
