CS reviews progress of rail link, 132 KV transmission line project

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary (CS), B.B Vyas on Wednesday chaired the 2nd Apex Committee meeting here to review the progress of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project.
Principal Secretary, PDD, Commissioner/Secretary, Forests, Ecology & Environment, senior officers of the State Government and Railway Authorities were present in the meeting. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Commissioners of Reasi and Ramban participated via video conferencing.
Chief Secretary received brief from Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi and Deputy Commissioner, Ramban regarding the latest status of land acquisition in the Katra-Banihal Rail Line section and 132 KV Transmission Line section from Katra to Reasi and Ramban to Sangaldan for the Railway’s Integrated Sub-Station.
The committee noted with satisfaction the progress being achieved in the expeditious disposal of pending land acquisition cases with directions to both the Deputy Commissioner’s to complete the few pending land acquisition cases within the next one month.
In order to ensure speedy completion of USBRL, 132 KV Transmission Line, National Highway and other important projects, Chief Secretary asked the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Jammu to hold fortnightly review meetings with the respective DCs and concerned Railway and National Highway Authorities.
Chief Secretary also requested Railway Authorities to undertake the necessary repair works, wherever, the construction of Railway infrastructure has resulted in damage to roads, irrigation khuls, water supply pipes etc, so that people are not put to inconvenience. “The Committee will again meet to review the progress of these projects of National importance in the first week of September, 2017,” Chief Secretary said.
