‘Meri Pehchan’ celebrates Raksha Bandhan in a unique way

JAMMU: Meri Pehchan, a women club with the aim to encourage the women, on Tuesday celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a unique way in which woman tied a Rakhi to another woman.
Speaking on the occasion, Founder Meri Pehchan, Sandhya Gupta said “We would organise different activities, such as entertainment, health talks, awareness programmes and festival celebrations in free and informal way for women folks.”
“Raksha Bandhan is mainly known as a festival denoting the bond of love, care and respect between a brother and a sister, however, the festival nowadays is witnessing a trend, where a woman is tying a Rakhi to another woman,” she said.Not just brothers, even sisters are now bound by the thread of love, she said and believed Rakhis aren’t just for brothers.
“A sister, mother, even friends can be just as protective as a brother. It’s all in the mind and I completely support the concept espoused by me on the function. In fact, I will tie Rakhi whom I feel will take care of me, be it my mother, father, sister, brother or friend,” she said.
She added that there are many sisters who have no brother and our function definitely boost their morale and they will tie their Rakhi on the wrist of sisters.
In the function prominent women of Jammu city participated.
