SRINAGAR: The field executives of Legal Metrology Department on Wednesday inspected about 300 commercial establishments in Srinagar during which 43 traders were found using flawed weights and measures in their business premises.
The Challan cases were made out against them for violating Legal Metrology laws and a penalty of Rs 44,950 was realized from the defaulters.
Moreover, during the inspection a retailer was found offering for sale the dates in packed form without carrying the mandatory declaration MRP on the label for which a penal sum of Rs 3000 was slapped on him. Another retailer was found selling Tamarind packs without carrying PKD, MRP, address of Packer, Consumer care details. The trader as well as the supplier was penalized Rs. 10000 for the lapse.
