BILLAWAR: The people of Billawar Tehsil under the Banner of Billawar Zila Andolan organised a protest march against the announcement made by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at Basholi to create the post of Additional DC at Basohli which is neither genuine nor justified where as Distt. Status to Billawar Tehsil is a long pending demand of hilly areas of Billawar , Bani and Basholi as Billawar being the centre of all the places .
In this regard a memorandum was also submitted to the Tehsildar Billawar to convey the grievances of the people to the higher authorities.
A call Billawar Chalo was also given on 17 June, 2017 in which people of Tehsil Billawar, Machedi and Bani will gather at PWD Rest House Billawar for the next protest march against the decision of the Govt.. The prominent citizen who spoke on this occasion were Romy Khajuria, HC Jalmeria, Shanti Saroop Basotra , Kuldeep Basotra , BR Upadhyay , Jatinder Bhadwal , Sandeep Khajuria , Rakesh Chandel , Rakesh Kumar ( Mooni ) and many others.
Meanwhile, Advocate Pankaj Basotra, General Secretary J and K Pradesh Youth Congress demanded the district status for Billawar and permanent office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner at Billawar till permanent district status is conferred.
In a statement issued, Pankaj Basotra said that the people of Billawar, Lohai-Malhar, Ramkot, Dugan and Bani are demanding the Pahari District at the centre place at Billawar since long and the government of Jammu and Kashmir is over sighting their genuine demand. He said that the people of far flung area like Lohai-Malhar, Dugan and Bani are facing very hardship in the absence of the district offices nearby.
