DB gives 4 weeks to comply order in PIL against child abuse

JAMMU: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjeev Kumar while granting four weeks’ time to the respondents to comply with the order dated 4th May 2017 whereby direction was issued that the Committee constituted under Rule 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2014, shall constitute the Juvenile Justice Board(s) and District Child Welfare Committees in Jammu and Kashmir within two months, observed that in case of non-compliance the Director, ICDS, shall remain present before this Court on 12th July 2017.
The court direction came in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Shivan Mahajan against child abuse.
Earlier, the Division Bench observed that Vishal Bharti, Deputy AG has submitted that Member Secretary of the aforesaid Committee has been transferred and the new incumbent is yet to join therefore, the directions contained in the order dated 4th May 2017 could not be complied with.
