‘Frequent Pak firing, shelling; no leader, bureaucrat visited border people’
STATE TIMES NEWS
MENDHAR : The border villagers of Balakote, Balnoi, Dabraj and Mankote strongly resented the absence of any sectoral officers or political leader to take care of these people in the wake of frequent firing and shelling from across the border.
The people said that they lived under the threat of life and even suffered heavy loss of cattle besides damage to their crops but no senior officer from the Revenue Department visited the area to assess the losses. Six villagers were seriously injured during the recent firing but due to non-availability of any ambulance or any other facility, these injured were left to the care of God. Finally the injured were shifted by the GREF people to hospital at a distance of 10 kilometers.
The government is making tall claims of providing numbr of facilities including bunker, rations, shelters, medical facilities etc but none of these is available in the area. They alleged great discrimination with the people of Mendhar.
The villagers urged the District Development Commissioner to visit the area and provide bunkers for their safety.
