23 traders penalised, Rs 15,800 fine recovered

SRINAGAR: The Field executives of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Legal Metrology and Food Safety and Standards today conducted joint market inspection of different markets of Srinagar city in view of the ensuing holy month of Ramdhan.
Officials said the team under the supervision of senior officers of the legal metrology department and FCS&CA inspected markets of Karan Nagar, Residency Road and Lal Chowk.
They said 23 erring commercial establishments were penalised for the violation of various rules and a sum of Rs 15800 was slapped on the defaulters for the lapses. The erring establishments include 10 Bakery shops, two hotel and restaurants and 11 vegetable and fruit shops.
