Oorja CAPF U-19 football tournament 2017;Second phase to begin at JU from June 12

JAMMU: As the nation is gearing up for FIFA under-17 World Cup that is going to be held in October and prior to the world cup, Jammu and Kashmir is getting ready to hold second phase of Oorja 2017 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Under-19 football tournament on the instructions of Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
“The city will be hosting the second phase of tournament that will be organised by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Jammu and Kashmir,” Manvendra Negi, Dy. Inspector General, Jammu Sector of 66 Bn SSB told reporters here on Tuesday.
The tournament for Under-19 boys and girls in which six states include Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, J and K and Telengana will be held from 12th to 17th June, 2017 and University of Jammu Ground, here, he said.
“The objective of the tournament is to provide opportunity for youths to play football. The state police and Central Para Military Forces have been asked to organise competitions with an active engagement of young students,” said DIG SSB.
For smooth conduct of the second phase in Jammu, he said, various organising committees have been formed.
Over 240 young footballers will play more than 140 matches in the next one month, he said adding that the prizes for second phase are Rs ,100,000 for winner team, Rs 60,000 for runners up and Rs 40,000 for third place.
A running trophy will be givan to the winner in the second phase in addition, there will be trophies/prizes for best player of the tournament, best goalkeeper and best scorer, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh will inaugurate the tournament.
Ajay Kumar, Commandant, V. S Jamwal, Second-in-Command, N.S Negi, Joint Area Organiser, Barjeet Singh, Deputy Commandant, Rajeev Sharma, Dy. Commandant, Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Commandant, Kashtoori Lal, Deputy Commandant, Jeet Lal, Deputy Commandant and Santosh Pandit, Assistant Commandant were present in the press conference.
