Regional bias in selections;BJP owes explanation to Jammu youth: Harsh
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: While Jammu region as a whole has suffered unexampled bias in multifarious fields after the formation of the present coalition, the unemployed Jammu youth continue to bear the severest brunt of the most discriminatory agenda of the incumbent BJP-PDP rule in the form of their near obliteration in various selection lists issued during the past two years.
In a statement issued here on Friday, Harsh said that with BJP assuming the reins of power in the State, the Jammu youth had expected at least equal treatment vis-a-vis their Kashmir counterparts in employment. He regretted that contrary to people’s expectations, the Saffron leaders surrendered even the marginal share of Jammu region in recruitments to Kashmir so as to keep their alliance partner in good humour and thereby keep their role of Junior partner in the government intact. He said that with most hostile and spasmodic dozes of discrimination being administered to Jammu youth in selections one after the other in the Saffron flavoured govt., the BJP leaders had given Jammuites the shocker of their life time.
Accusing the BJP of bartering away the interests of educated unemployed Jammu youth for power sake, Singh said that Panthers Party shall launch an aggressive campaign against the appeasement policy on Kashmir being jointly pursued by BJP-PDP at the cost of Jammu youth. He said that jobs to stone pelters, NoKs of militants including grandson of Syed Ali Shah Geelani had exposed the nauseating jingoism of BJP with Jammu youth boiling with rage against its opportunistic politics. He said that the simmering volcano in Jammu could explode any moment as the educated Jammu youth were fast losing patience.
Expressing indignation over the recent discriminatory selections against the posts of Assistant Professors in Higher Education Department, Harsh alleged huge regional bias in recruitments made by PSC for these posts in various disciplines during the present BJP-PDP rule.
He said that the select lists revealed abysmally low share of Jammu region in the said recruitments and demonstrated the highly parochial nature of selections.
He made a particular mention of the recently published select list of Assistant Professors in the discipline of economics in which mere three posts went to Jammu region out of 27 and the rest were dished out to Kashmir.
He regretted that earlier select lists also figured that out of 58 candidates in Commerce, 13 belonged to Jammu region, nine candidates out of 34 in History, seven candidates out of 26 in Physics, nine in Psychology out of 27 and likewise in other subjects.
Singh also pointed out highly biased and obnoxious selections in Eco and Statistics, wherein out of 26 candidates selected for Junior Statistical Assistants only one belonged to Jammu region. He further divulged that in Health and Medical Education Department, out of 123 selections of consultants in Radiology, Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Pathology and Paediatrics only 23 belonged to Jammu region.
Likewise in RMSA select list for special Education Teachers released a couple of weeks ago, he divulged that out of 52 candidates, only 14 belonged to Jammu region.
He cautioned the State Government and the mandated leaders of Jammu region to ponder over the grave concern of the Jammu youth by addressing discrimination issue and to explain the prejudice caused to Jammu youth in selections during the BJP rule.
