Skyabgon Chetsang lauds communal harmony of Kukshow village

LEH: After two days of visit Kukshow of Kargil District, a village known for communal harmony, His Holiness Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche returned to Leh to start the three-day religious and social programme which commenced at Phyang monastery on Thursday.
At Kukshow a grant reception was hosted in honour of Kyabgon Chetsang by both Buddhist and Muslim communities. Rinpoche also visited artificial glacier which has been built at Kukshow under his guidance and blessings as Rinpoche was requested for help by the villagers in 2014 since village often faces scarcity of water for agricultural purposes.
Skyabgon Chetsang expressed his joy over the success of the project and applauded the manager Khanpo K Sherab, Ven Konchok Choswang and Ven Skyorpon Konchok Gyaltsan and assistants involved in executing the project.
Chetsang Rinpoche emphasized on communal harmony for development and prosperity of region and applauded Kukshow village for its centuries old exemplary communal harmony. He advised elders to pass on the profound culture of communal harmony to generations to come.
Skyabgon Chetsang asked villagers to preserve and protect the birch tree and plant juniper trees in the village. Kukshow village possessed unique identity of having many giant centuries old birch trees. It is said that the oldest Buddhist texts were written on bark of birch tree.
Speaking on the occasion, former Sarpanch Ali Mussa, behalf of the both communities expressed his gratitude to His Holiness for his blessing and support for the village.
Councillor Shakar Chiktan Mosin Ali spoke on communal harmony and unity and assured to extend help and support in future. Village Nambarder Tashi Wangyal was also present on the occasion and an elaborated cultural performance including Mentok Ltatmo and popular Thali dance were presented on the occasion.
