College students protest against JU; allege discrimination

BHADARWAH: To express their resentment over alleged discrimination of university authorities by deliberately disqualifying some students in one or two subjects in annual examination, Student of Degree College Kishtwar held a strong protest and block the road at Sheedhi Chowk Kishtwar for couple of hours on Wednesday.
Students of Government Degree College Kishtwar gathered at the main gate of the College and while raising slogans against the university authorities alleged that JU authorities are making mockery of education and only for Revolution fees, they declared 6% result of B. Sc, B. Com, B.A Semester-1 of Kishtwar College as passed.
Students of GDC Kishtwar alleged that failing all students in one or two subject is just to harras and to play with the future of students.
They said that they will intensify their struggle unless a separate controller examination is not introduced for all the 10 Chenab valley colleges.
Later in the afternoon, DC Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan assured students that they will reach and amicable solution to the problems of the students with in stipulated time, after which the protest was suspended by the agitating students. Meanwhile Youth Congress Leader Randeep Bhandari also reached the agitating students and demanded a fair probe into matter.
