JAMMU: In view of supervising security arrangements at Shri Vaishno Devi Shrine and Katra town on the beginning of auspicious Navratras, Dr S.D Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu Zone accompanied by Virender Sharma, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range, Tahir Bhat, SSP Reasi visited Katra here on Tuesday.
Accompanied by his team, Dr Singh checked all the frisking/ checking points enroute Bhawan and interacted with the police and CRPF officials deployed there. A security review meeting was also held by the IGP Jammu zone at Bhawan which was also attended by the officers of CRPF 6th Bn. Later, he also took stock of the security arrangements at Katra town and held a public meeting at Katra.
People of Katra put forth their problems and highlighted the problem of traffic congestion and also raised concern about the begging menace in the Katra town. IGP Jammu exhorted upon the public to keep vigil on the anti national and anti social elements and help police to thwart the nefarious designs of anti national elements. He also issued necessary directions to the District Police officers and sought cooperation from the civil society in eradicating the begging menace.
Virender Sharma, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range, Tahir Sajjad Bhat, SSP Reasi, Sameer Kotwal, Addl. SP Katra, Neelam Khajuria SDM Katra, Mohit Raina Tehsildar Katra and prominent citizens of area were also present on the occasion.
