Kargil students seek intervention for early exams, Karbalai calls Samoon

KARGIL: Bachelor Students’ of Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil are continuously approaching to the authorities of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil since February and asking them for intervene to conduct their examinations.
The students earlier approached to Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan and later Executive Councilor for Education Advocate Amir and asked them to take up the issue with the Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir. The students said that they are suffering since last year.
“Even in Kashmir despite of unrest exams have been conducted and they are going to sit for 5 semester examination while we have to sit for 3rd semester” a student told media.
The delegation demanded that the present system of working at the pattern of Kashmir University has never been proven successful here, in this regard they requestES to prepare separate academic calendar for Ladakh region keeping in view of sensibilities of the region in terms of climatic condition.
The students expressed resentment and told executive councilor that the student communities in Kargil District are extremely concerned about their future and if the current situation does not change then the education system especially higher education system may crash out.
“The students who were enrolled in 2015-16 in 1st semester in the college should technically complete their graduation in 2017-18 but we are still preparing for 3rd semester,” students told reporters.
Meanwhile Executive Councilor Advocate Amir assured the students that he will take up the issue with CEC and the other representatives of Ladakh District so that the problems facing by the student community will be redressed. Moreover, MLA Kargil Asgar Karbalai called Commissioner Secretary for Higher Education Asgar Samoon in Jammu and took up the issue. Talking to media he said that he has apprised the issue to Asgar Samoon who assured him that this issue will be redressed as soon as possible.
Karbalai said, “I told Samoon that this is completely injustice with the students of Kargil and therefore the university needs to conduct exams as soon as possible”.
