College students protest against Jammu Varisty, block highway

RAMBAN: Students of Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban blocked the National Highway for three hours in support of their demands at Karol area of Ramban, this morning.
There were hundreds of students protesting against the Jammu University (JU) as well and college administration for which traffic remained off from the road.
Students raised slogans against the university and alleged that there is a big conspiracy of higher authorities of JU against the innocent students of part first which resulted in showing poor performance of part first result which was declared recently.
They further alleged that this is a plan conspiracy of people sitting at the helm if affairs to making money from the students in the name of re-evaluation of reappear students.
They submitted a memorandum to the principal GDC Ramban and requested him personally look into the matter and coordinate the JU authotries to give concession in re-eveluation fee.
The protestors demanded that the college bus should be enroute at earliest so that students will not suffer further in hot summer season.
Meanwhile, the protest came to end after the intervention of Tehsildar Ramban Gurpreet Singh and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarter Ramban Imtiyaz Ahmed who assured the aggressived students that their demands will be fulfilled in the shortest time. Principal of the College Dr Yudhveer Singh said that the college administration is with the students and forward their demands to the JU authotries. “The final decision of it will be taken by higher authorities of university” he added. However, DySp Ramban Imtiyaz Ahmed said that he will personally took the matter with the JU higher authorities and will try to sought out the issue.
