DODA: District Kishtwar lifted cricket trophy while district Ramban won Kabaddi and Doda Team bagged tug of war title in the four-day sports festival organised by Doda Police, which concluded at Sports Stadium, here on Thursday.
In the cricket final played today, District Kishtwar outplayed Ramban by a margin of 73-runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, Kishtwar team scored 157 runs in 15 overs for the loss of nine wickets. While chasing the target, Ramban team was bowled out for 84 runs in 11 overs. Mubassir Ahmed of Kishtwar, who contributed 57 runs for his team, was declared as Man of the Match.
In kabaddi final, District Ramban defeated district Doda by five points whereas Doda team outplayed Ramban in tug of war final. In the closing ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Doda, Mohammad Hanief was the Chief Guest while Principal Higher Secondary School Doda, Tanveer Ahmed Wani and Principal Police Public School Doda, Raiz Ahmed Mintoo were the Guests of Honour.
SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir, ASP Doda Vinay Kumar, Dy SP Hqrs Doda Iftkhar Ahmed alongwith other police, civil administration and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
The uniforms kits, trophies, medals along with certificates were distributed among the winner/runners of the teams by SSP Doda, Additional SP Doda and ADC Doda on the behalf of DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Nisar Ahmed.
The tournament was organised by Doda Police on the direction of Range Police Hqrs Batote under Civic Action Programme with the objective of harnessing the talent of youth in sports activities and strengthen the police public relationship.
Vinay Kumar, ASP Hqrs. Doda was nodal officer for Range Level Sports Festival activities.
