JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DF&SS) under the leadership of its President Ashok Gupta on Wednesday held a protest against the ‘objectionable’ name given to cable car project in Jammu. “This is really a matter of great concern that a cable project, which is going to be established at Jammu and supposed to be centre of attraction of Jammu Pradesh, has been given name after a street,” Gupta said adding that since the project is going to connect pilgrims visiting Bawe Wali Mata and Bagh-e Bhau, it should have more appropriate is it is named after Bawe or Bahu.
The Party President alleged that the government’s move smacks of a conspiracy to suppress the history of Dogras, which shall not be tolerated by entire Dogra community.
The change in the nomenclature of the Mubarak Mandi-Bahu Fort Cable Car project to the Mubarak Mandi-Shahabad project is an attempt to change the demography of the winter capital of the State, he said.
“This move of government is nothing but a provocative attempt by the BJP-PDP Government to hurt the religious sentiments of Jammuites and this is high time when we all Jammuites should oppose the move tooth and nail,” he said.
Gupta strongly condemned the attempts to create controversies by the government and its agencies by fiddling with the name of historic and heritage sites and places especially having religious sanctity and sentiments attached to them.
It is the ugly policy of the Kashmiri rulers who have pledged to rub the Golden History of Dogra rulers and their monuments and heritage just like they did in Kashmir, he said adding that after giving the name of Sher-I-Kashmir Bridge to the 2nd Tawi Bridge, people of Jammu agitated then.
“Now it is presumed that the State Government and its ugly policy will force us to come on roads ones again,” he asserted.
Sonu, Suresh, Birbal, Kimti, Geeta, Veena, Sudesh, Daya Ram, Roop Lal, Surinder, Golu, Sunita, Bantu, Rani, Parkash, Nikku and Abhishek were also present.
