J&K land of sufis, saints, peace will surely prevail: Vaid

JAMMU: Terming Jammu and Kashmir as land of sufis and saints, Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid on Tuesday asserted that peace will prevail in the Kashmir Valley in the ensuing Summer Season.
“Tourists’ inflow will also rise after Darbar moves to summer capital, Srinagar and definitely peace will be restored following which rush of visitors will be seen this time in the Kashmir valley in the coming Summer,” Dr Vaid told media persons, after inspecting recruitment rally of Jammu and Kashmir Police here.
On arrest of five people with foreign currency, he said, “The matter is being investigated but I want to say that foreign currency, drugs and terrorism are closely inter-related.”
Five people from Kashmir were arrested here from a hotel with Venezuelan currency worth lakhs.
Meanwhile, on a query regarding pasting of threat posters warning people to stay away from upcoming Lok Sabha bypolls, Dr Vaid said, “We have identified some of the miscreants and cases are also registered against them.
I am sure that people will defy the threat calls and participate in large in polling process.”
On threats being issued to the families of police personnel in the Valley, he said, “It keeps on happening but our force is capable to face any challenge.”
Terming J&K as land of sufis and saints, he said, “Presently bloodshed is everywhere around. We never wanted this kind of Jammu and Kashmir.”
He, however, added that police, paramilitary forces and Army are working with great synergy in the state and borders either is LoC or IB.
“To weed out corruption Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP) has been brought into force and entire activity is being videographed. Any aspirant having complain, he can watch his video to see the facts.”
The DGP also appreciated and complimented youth for participating in large in Army recruitment rallies in Kashmir post self styled Burhan Wani’s elimination last year on July 8.
