Food establishments Challaned for poor sanitation

JAMMU: Several food business operators were Challaned on Monday for carrying out business activities under unhygienic and insanitary conditions.
According to report, a team of Food Safety Officers along with Assistant Controller Food (Designated Officer) Municipal Limits Jammu carried out surprise inspection of Food Business Operators dealing in different kinds of food products at Muthi, Roop Nagar and Durga Nagar localities. During inspection, two Nanwaie shops, one Halwai shop and one Meat Shop were Challaned under Section 56 of the Food Safety and Standards Act for carrying out business in unhygienic conditions. The team also lifted four samples of milk of different categories, one sample of Paneer and one sample of Packaged Drinking Water besides surveillance samples of fresh vegetables and sent the same to Food Testing Laboratory for carrying out analysis / testing. Meanwhile, General Public was advised to lodge complaints regarding the quality of food items on helpline No. 0191-2538527.
