BHADARWAH: To regulate increasing traffic and avoid traffic jams, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bhadarwah ordered traffic restrictions and No Parking Zones in Bhadarwah town.
The decision was taken after convened series of meetings with ARTO Doda, Police Officers of Bhadarwah Sub Division , Traffic authorities, Civil Society and Media Representatives to chalk out the strategy for smooth traffic regulation in Bhadarwah town and its adjoining areas.
Addressing a press conference in his office on Sunday, SDM Bhadarwah Dr Owais Ahmed Rana said that after several representations by the civil society and locals about the traffic chaos in Bhadarwah town reportedly due to wrong parking in the conjusted areas and by-lanes resulting into the numerous problems to the pedestrians in general, students and elders in particular, a meeting of the officers of line departments was held and it was decided that all the commercial Vehicles shall not be allowed to park at Seri Bazaar and Pasri Bus Stand.
According to the order No. SDM /PA/16-17/2920-32, it was adecided that all the private vechiles shall be allowed to park only at paid parking and no heavy/ medium vechiles shall be allowed to enter into the town from 9 Am to 7 pm.
Beside traffic restriction, Pasri to Seri Bazaar, Boys Higher Secondary School to Seri Bazaar, Seri Bazaar to Fire station office ( via Ganpat Bazaar) , Ikhwan Chowk to Eid Gah point, Jamia Masjid to Revenue complex and seri Bazaar to Gupt Ganga Road were declared as No Parking zone. SDM Bhadarwah Dr Owais Ahmed Rana said that taking to the consideration problems being faced by the common people due to mismanagement of traffic in Bhadarwah town, which sometime results in law and order problem, we decided to impose traffic restriction and declared some areas as No Parking Zones. SDM further said that Although increasing number of vehicles is a sign of progress, but now time has come to regulate it and taking the same in consideration, we have taken the decision to minimise the traffic congestion and to avoid chaos and problems we used to face during any emergency.
“I hope everyone will cooperate us in implementing this decision in the larger interest of this beautiful town,” SDM added. It is notable to mention here that Bhadarwah has a state-of-the art bus stand at kotli which is just 300 meters away from the hub of the town and can accommodate more then 500 vehicles at a time but surprisingly, even after 5 years of its completion, it remains unutilized and one can see hardly any vehicles parked in the bus stand.
