JKP bags overall trophy in wrestling

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police emerged overall champion in the two-day State Wrestling Championship held under the banner of J and K Wrestling Association at Banjrangi Akhara, here on Sunday.
Wrestlers serving with J and K Police bagged maximum medals in eight different weight categories decided on Sunday.
The event was financially supported by the J and K State Sports Council.
In the finals and valedictory function, Minister of State for Sports, Sunil Sharma was Chief Guest, who gave away the overall trophy and medals. Minister assured all possible help in giving Bajrangi Akhara a new look and asked the association to explore the possibilities of holding summer camp in erstwhile Doda District.
Prominent among others present were Narinder Mahajan, Kuldeep Sharma, Vijay Phalwan (all Vice Presidents), Ajay Vaid (General Secretary), Pradeep Sharma (President Bajrangi Akhara), Raju Sharma (Treasurer), Dheeraj Sharma, Vikas Gupta, Vijay Atri, Dr Kamal Sharma and Vijay Kumar.
The bouts were associated by the technical panel including Jai Bharat, Kulvir Singh, Gobind Singh and Ravinder Sharma.
Earlier, in his welcome address, President of the Association, Dushyant Sharma presented a brief note of the event. Vote of thanks presented by Ajay Vaid.
The Results: 57 kg: Ashiq Hussain, Ist; Ashvani Kumar, 2nd and Anil Choudhary, 3rd. 61 kg: Kuldeep Singh, Ist; Vicku Sharma, 2nd and Rajinder Singh, 3rd. 65 kg: Bushan Mehra, Ist; Anil Kumar, 2nd and Irshad Mohd, 3rd. 70 kg: Sunny Sharma, Ist; Arif Khan, 2nd and Ajay Bharat, 3rd. 74 kg: Munir Hussain, Ist; Ranjit Singh, 2nd and Pawan Kumar, 3rd. 86 kg: Rajesh Sharma, Ist; Liyaqat Ali, 2nd and Nadeem Ahmad, 3rd. 97 kg: Roshan Lal, Ist; Bahadur Khan, 2nd and Shakti Singh, 3rd. 126 kg: Ishaq Mohd, Ist; Diler Khan, 2nd and Shubam Singh, 3rd.
