Contractual lecturers strike continues on day 33

JAMMU: Demanding regularisation, the chain hunger strike launched by contractual lecturers entered its 33rd day on Saturday.
The contractual lecturers were demanding regularisation as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act-2010, a policy framed for the regularisation of all ad hoc, contractual and consolidated employees after seven years of service.
Protesting lecturers said they were rendering their services in the education sector for the last many years but the State Government had followed totally apathetic policies.
Besides regularisation, they also demanded that their salaries be enhanced as per the latest Apex Court ruling for ‘Equal Work Equal Wages’.
They disclosed that the government was only paying attention for the enhancement of perks of ministers and MLAs.
Two of the contractual lecturers, Vinod Kumar and Seema Rajput who is on fast were admitted to GMC Jammu and their health is deteriorating day by day.
Arun Bakshi , State President of the Association, warned the government that if any untoward incidents occurs with any of the contractual lecturers then dire will be the consequences which government has to face in forthcoming days.
Bakshi made it clear that they will continue their strike until government fulfills their demands.
Along with Vinod Kumar, other contractual lecturers Jeevan Kumar, Amrit Paul, Madhvi Sharma and Ranjan Bala also sat on chain hunger strike.
