JAMMU: Director General of J and K Police, Dr S.P Vaid on Saturday declared open the two-day State Wrestling Championship, organised by J and K Wrestling Association at Bajrangi Akhara, here.
The Chief Guest interacted with the participants in senior group and advised them to work hard so as to earn a name for the State at the national level.
Additional Director General of J and K Police (Security), Dilbag Singh was Guest of Honour. Among special guests were MLC Ashok Khajuria, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma and Ajay Vaid as also Dheeraj Singh, Raju Sharma and Vikas Gupta.
The bouts were officiated by the technical panel comprising Jai Bharat, Kulvir Singh and Govind Singh.
Around 150 wrestlers representing districts of Kathua, Jammu, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda, Samba, Srinagar and Anantnag are participating in this championship.
Later, vote of thanks presented by President of J and K Wrestling Association, Dushyant Sharma.
The Results: Semifinalists: 57 kg: Rahul Mehra, Ashwani Kumar, Anil Choudhary, Ashiq Hussain. 61 kg: Kuldeep Singh, Rajinder Singh, Vicku Sharma, Paramveer Singh. 65 kg: Anil Kumar, Amit Manhas, Irshat Mohammad, Bhushan Mehra. 70 kg: Ajay Bharti, Sunny Sharma, Arif Khan, Rajinder Singh. 74 kg: Muneer Hussain, Pawan Kumar, Arshad Ali, Ranjit Singh.
