AG XI lifts CGEWCC Cricket title

JAMMU: The star-studded side of Accountant General (AG) XI today clinched the cricket title beating Survey of India (SoI) in an easy final taking away the game by six wickets at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
The cricket event was part of the ongoing annual sports meet of the Central Government employees posed in Jammu and Kashmir, organised by Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at different venues.
Earlier, AG XI set a daunting task of 184 runs target in 20 overs game. First class cricketers, Vimarsh Kaw and Bandeep Singh played fine innings of 83 and 76 runs respectively. Sanjeev took three wickets from SoI while Raina bagged one.
In reply, SoI bowled out for 88 runs in 18 overs of the 20 overs a side game. Maheshwar and Shashi were only batsmen to touch the double figure mark with 23 and 17 runs in their respective accounts. From AG XI, Anoop Mangotra emerged as most successful bowler with four wickets, followed by Ravi Kant, who took three. Raheel Singh bagged two.
The final was witnessed besides members of the organising committee by chief guest, Account General, J&K.
The final was officiated by Mahesh Sharma and Atul as umpires.
