SUNDERBANI: Police on Tuesday arrested a woman for illicit distillation.
According to a report, during the intervening night of 6th-7th March 2017, acting on reliable information SHO Police Station Dharamsal Darshan Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera and under overall supervision of SSP Rajouri raided a house of late Tara Chand in Bakhar village and during search found two working stills in function. Police team destroyed both these working stills used for Desi liquor distillation while some other associated items used were seized. Police also seized five litres of wine from the spot while 50 litres of Lahaan was destroyed. Lady running the stills was arrested and was identified as Bimla Devi wife of Late Tara Chand and resident of Bakhar Dharamsal.
A case vide FIR No. 14/2017 under section 48 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Dharamsal. Further investigation is going on.
