Dear Editor,
Despite having been the CM of the most militancy-infested State J and K, Mehbooba Mufti has the time and desire to bring about a social change in society. Her initiative to put a ban on over-the-top weddings is not only laudable, but also the need of the hour. In a country where a large percentage of population lives below poverty line, such extravaganza on the celebration of an occasion of matrimonial bliss is a cruel joke with the deprived sections of society. It is time to put an end to such criminal wastage of food, money and outlandish show of money power.
The J and K Chief Minister deserves praise for banning such brazen show of opulence. CMs of other states should follow suit.
