DB grants 2 weeks to file objections in PIL for shifting Myanmar refugees

JAMMU: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Alok Aradhe on Monday granted two weeks time to State for filling objections/response in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Hunar Gupta also member of BJP Legal Cell, seeking direction to State of J&K for appointing and issuing necessary directions to a former Retired Judge to hold an inquiry to identify all the illegal immigrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh migrated in State of J&K.
Meanwhile, in an application filed by Mohammad Younus, son of Hosin Akter through Advocate Shah Faisel appearing for the residents of Myanmar and Bangladesh seeking intervener in the PIL, Division Bench granted two weeks time to petitioner for filling objections.
The PIL further sought direction to State for shifting illegal immigrants of Myanmar and Bangladesh from J&K to any other place as no Refugee Camp has ever been declared either by State of J&K or by United Nations in J&K. The PIL also sought direction for withdrawal of benefits given to illegal immigrants of Bangladesh and Myanmar from the State exchequer and from the schemes meant for residents of J&K.
