4th Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Hockey Tournament;JKP, Punjabi University, SGPC Amritsar, New Gurdaspur Club win ties

JAMMU: J and K Police (JKP), Punjabi University Patiala, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC) Amritsar and New Gurdaspur Club won their respective matches to advance into the next round of the ongoing fourth Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament at KK Hakku Stadium, here on Friday.
JKP defeated Zorawar Club Satwari in the first match of the day by six goals to one (6-1).
For JKP, Jaspreet Singh scored first and fourth goal in 5th and 40th minutes respectively while Sumitpal Singh scored second goal in 10th minute and Sikander Pal Singh, Satwant Singh and Charanjit Singh scored third, fifth and sixth goal in 30th, 46th and 60th minutes respectively. For Zorawar Club the only goal was scored by Shivay Vaid in 25th minute.
In another match, Punjabi University Patiala outplayed BSF Jammu by six goals to two (6-2).
For Punjabi University, the first goal was scored by Tumbi in 31st minute while second, third and sixth goal were scored by Amritpal Singh in 39th, 48th and 60th minutes respectively and Tumbi netted fourth goal in 55th minute and fifth goal was scored by Lakhvinder Singh in 58th minute. J Tiru scored first goal in 28th minute and N Dung scored second in 47th minute for BSF Jammu.
In third match, SGPC Amritsar trounced MBS Simbal Camp by five goals to nil (5-0). For SGPC Amritsar, the goals were scored by Gurkirat Singh (8th), Satvir Singh (13th), Parmeet Singh (50th and 56th) and Nishan Singh in (52nd) minute. In the last match of the day, New Gurdaspur Club blanked Banda Singh Bahadur Club Poonch by three goals to nil (3-0). General Manager, State Road Transport Corporation, Khalid Hussain Malik, former international hockey umpire, M.S Reen, Taxation Advisor, Netar Bhandhari, former hockey player, Iqbal Singh, DFO Jammu, Dr Harshdeep Singh and Senior Vice President, Hockey India Rajinder Singh were the guests in today’s matches, who interacted with the teams. Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Iqbal Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Manjeet Singh, Senapati, Mukesh Kumar and Satvir Singh (Tournament Director). Other prominent persons present were Joginder Singh Bali (Hong Kong Waley) G.S Baskhi General Secretary Hockey J and K, I.S Munna, Harvinder Singh, P.P Singh, Janak Singh Organising Secretary, Harbans Singh Chib, Gurcharanjeet Singh and Balvinder Singh.
TOMORROW FIXTURE: SGPC Amritsar shall take on New Gurdaspur Hockey Club in first semifinal at 1:30 PM; Punjabi University Patiala to meet J&K Police at 3:00 PM.
