Impressive Shiv Barat taken out ahead of Mahashivratri

JAMMU: An impressive Shiv Barat was on Thursday taken out on the eve of Mahashivratri in Jammu city. A grand Shobha Yatra was jointly taken out by Jammu and Kashmir Dharamath Trust and Shri Ranbireshwar Mandir Welfare Committee (SRMWC).
The procession started from Shri Ranbireshwar Temple and after covering the main Bazaars of the old city viz. Indira
Chowk, Hari Market, Raghunath Bazaar Chowk , Residency Road, Rajinder Bazaar, Kanak Mandi, City Chowk, Old Hospital Road, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Mubarak Mandi, Upper Bazaar, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar, Parade Chowk and finally culminated at Shri Ranbireshwar Temple.
Prior to departure of Shiv Baraat, Pooja of Lord Shiva was performed by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, Rajesh Gupta (MLA), Yudhveer Sethi (BJP senior leader), Priya Sethi (MoS Education), Abhinav Sharma ( President Bar Association Jammu) , B.R Kundal (President JK Dharmarth Trust),
Shashi Khajuria (Secretary JK Dharmarth Trust)
and Advocate M.K Bhardwaj.
Shobha Yatra was led by Chariot of Lord Shiva followed by various Jhankis of religious/social organisations viz Peer Kho Mandir, Bawe Wala Mandir, Hudh Mata Committee Jammu Province, Dewan Mandir Natak Samaj Mandli, Radha Krishan Temple Panjtirthi, Nat Manch, Trinetra Dhari Shiv Shamboo Seva Dal Parade Road, Bajrangi Akhara and others.
Devotees of Lord Shiva amid chants of ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ and ‘Shiv Shambhu Ki Jai’, participated in the Jhanki (Shiv Barat), which mesmerised the Jammuites.
Children and youngsters, especially Shiv Sevaks were attired in various forms of Lord Shiva in the procession. Artists performing different skills from different parts of the country also took part in the Jhanki.
Various traders, religious organisations of old city had organised Bhandaras at various places for the devotees enroute the Yatra. Heavy deployment of police was also made en route Jhanki to avoid any untoward incident, besides traffic regulation.
Mahant of the temple Swami Shri Rishi Ban took part in Shobha Yatra and extended heartiest Maha Shivratri wishes to Jammuites.
