Order restricting extravagant weddings;Sawhney dares PDP-BJP Govt to implement order from today

JAMMU: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney on Tuesday came down heavily on PDP-BJP Government for purposeful delay in implementing restrictions on extravagant weddings through a well-maneuvered order dated 20th February, 2017 only to pave way for some of its bigwigs to solemnise the marriage functions of their wards in a most extravagant manner to show-off wealth and might in these nearly 40 days gap prior to 1st April, when the order will come to force.
In a statement issued here, Yogesh questioned that why the government has given such a long rope to people before implementing the aforesaid order? He further asked, “Was it not prerogative implementing the Guest Control Order from the day one of issuing of the order? He alleged that this order is another attempt to befool naïve citizens in the name of reforms as was done in the case of demonetisation which failed to bring out black money and money launderers and ended up in harassing people who suffered worst nightmare of their life standing in long serpentine queues for days together waiting for ATMs to behave and dispense their hard earned ‘white’ money. He accused that Administration has failed on all accounts and is going for such populist measures just to divert the attention of people from its failures and wrong doings.
Yogesh Sawhney called an emergency meeting on Tuesday evening after an order was issued by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs regarding imposition of restrictions on injudicious use of essential commodities in social/Government/private functions.
All points contained in order were thoroughly discussed in the meeting.
Appreciating some of the points, he however questioned PDP-BJP government’s motive behind this controversial order and its implementation after the marriage ceremony of son of a senior most BJP minister.
Claiming that dry fruits and sweets are being distributed by the BJP minister, he asked why not the PDP-BJP government first of all starts the mission from its own house.
“In case of demonetisation, the currency was banned overnight while marriage functions control order has been given two months time, when marriage season is over. This is PDP-BJP government’s political gimmick to befool common man”, Sawhney said. Yogesh asserted that in the days to come he will expose the BJP and PDP ministers and the corrupt practices in which these so called public representatives are brazenly involved. He said that soon he will come up with the plethora of shortcomings and wrongdoings of Ministers of PDP and BJP to unveil the tactics of these shrewd helmsmen in deceiving the people who have posed faith in their fake promises made in the run up to polls.
