JAMMU: The security bandobast and general vigil maintained by the hostel staff and other senior authorities inside Jammu University campus have come under scanner following recovery of large number of beer, liquored other products in the close vicinity of Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Some university students posted pictures of beer and liquor bottles, and wrote a lengthy message to the Vice Chancellor to spare some time and visit the back gate of Jammu University near Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Exposing the mess, the students also tried to inform the University Vice Chancellor about wrong doings going on the campus.
“kuch nazar yahan be dal lo #VC sir yeh hamari #JammuUniversity hi ha !!!
#ZorawarSinghAuditorium#BackGateOfUniversity
Everyone knows what happens there #Smoking #Drinking. and yes #Kissing_In_The_Car
jaag jaou sahab warna university ko badlne me der nhi lagti”
For regular visitors and large number of students who are in the habit of consuming these products in the University campus, this is not a big deal.
At the same time it is a chilling reminder for outsiders and more significantly for parents of the students that the centre of learning is not teaching them good habits but providing them a safe haven to indulge in malpractices.
The role played by the security staff of the Jammu University also comes under scanner along with the entire machinery entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining discipline on the campus.
It has come to the notice of Jammu University authorities that several four wheelers also remain parked at various locations inside the Campus, especially in the evening.
However, it is not clear whether the cars belong to University students or outsiders come and create this mess on the Campus.
Large number of students claimed they have been informing the senior faculty members about the mess created by a group of students who are in the habit of consuming liquor but no action has been taken to rid the Campus of these ills. It has been also observed that the Campus has been witnessing several cases of fights involving students from different groups. Senior students camping in the Campus observed the younger lot of students is habitual of consuming liquor products and entering into petty fights leading to chaotic situation during late evenings. In addition, outsiders also add to the confusion as there has been no check on their movement inside the campus despite raising alarm over their presence at odd hours.
