Jitendra offers support for promoting Administrative Studies

NEW DELHI: Union Mini-ster of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and MoS PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh said that every possible support will be offered to promote Administrative Studies in Jammu.
As a first step in this direction, on the intervention of Dr Jitendra Singh, an MoU was finalised on Friday between Central University, Jammu and the prestigious Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor, Central University and R. Habib Khwaja, retired IAS, Director General ASCI, Hyderabad, who was accompanied by Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Prof. Dr. Ashita and Registrar Kalyan K. Roy and other members of ASCI faculty. Union Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), B.P. Sharma was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, at a time of global exposure when emphasis is on citizen-centric governance, the need of the hour is to have an exclusive department where education in governance and administration can be imparted in an institutionalized manner through a faculty with diverse experience from different parts of the country and abroad. The MoU signed today, he hoped, will enable supplementary exchange of inputs between a leading institution in administrative studies and the upcoming Central University of Jammu.
On behalf of DoPT, Singh said, all kind of assistance will be available for value addition in the curriculum and also mentioned the recent holding of National Workshop on Governance in November last year at Jammu by the Union Ministry of Personnel, under the aegis of Central University, Jammu.
For any upcoming institution of education or university today, Singh said, it is imperative to earn visibility and identity through exclusive courses of learning and research oriented faculty. In this context, he also mentioned the support offered by him to set up a Department of Space Technology in Central University Jammu, for which he said, Dr K. Radhakrishnan eminent scientist and former Chairman ISRO has agreed to be the Advisor.
Prof Aima expressed profuse gratitude to Dr Jitendra Singh for his regular support to set up and improve the academic departments in the Institution. He said, the University will certainly come up to the expectations of people and would set up one of the best departments for studies in governance and administration.
