Utilise Rs 170 Cr for clearance of Devika judiciously: Pawan

JAMMU: MLA Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta urged upon the government that the hefty amount of Rs 170 crores sanctioned by the Central Government for clearing of Holy Devika be utilised judiciously by getting DPRs of the project framed from a professional and executed with high proficiency.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, MLA Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta expressed gratitude to the Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh for sanctioning Rs 170 crore for cleaning of River Devika. He also congratulated the people of Udhampur and surrounding districts for having eternal faith in Holy Devika Udhampur for clearance of its developmental projects worth Rs 170 crores from the Central Government under National Rivers Conservation Plan.
Gupta since the date he became MLA Udhampur has strived hard in raising the burning issue at all forms like Legislative Assembly, in all District Development Board meetings one chaired by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and review meeting of Dy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh and also had assured publically to take up the matter with the appropriate forums and finally his efforts have fructified.
Holy Devika which in Vedic times was called the elder sister of Holy Ganga, has completely been dilapidated by contamination of its following water rendering dismal its sanity and glory and its restoration will not only strengthen the religions faith of this region but also the leap to the tourism of this district.
