Dear Editor,
While going through the list of Padma Awardees announced on Republic Day, we find that the award has been given to some eminent personalities posthumously. After all, when the award is in recognition of the yeomen service rendered by them in their fields of excellence, what is the use of releasing the awards after their demise?
Will it not be ideal to honour such personalities during their lifetime itself? This way, not only their kith and kin and friends but also the recipients would feel happy that their services have been recognised by the Government.
