PM off the mark

Dear Editor,
Recently, the Prime Minister, in his ‘Mann ki Baat’, advised students not to attach much importance to marksheets. If you get good marks, there is nothing like it. But if you don’t, it is not the end of the world. I want to ask the Prime Minister, do we really live in such a society where marks would not matter? The future of students totally depends on the marks they score in board examinations and universities. My humble suggestion is that our educational system needs fundamental changes, in which the importance of degrees and marksheets is reduced and skills have the upper hand. Until this is done, students have no choice but to understand that their future does depend on the marksheet.
