Issues of people not getting addressed: Tara Chand; ‘Chaurahe-pe-Charcha on public issues at Khour

KHOUR: Calling upon Coalition Government to come clean on public issues, former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand said that the government in State has failed to deliver on the ground and promises made to people have fallen flat. He said problems and issues pertaining to the common man are not being addressed and people are facing real hardships due to lack of administration.
“Our people living in border and far flung areas are the worst sufferers as due to frequent cross-border firing they have to face real hardships and the government is hardly reacting to their issues,” he added. He said that people living in rural far-off areas of Pargwal, Battal and Thakkar are facing multi-faced problems as on one hand they have to bear burnt of living under constant fear of firing and on the other no government authority is coming to their rescue.
“Government should provide people of the area some alternate site for accommodation on the lines given to other border inhabitants and at least 10 Marla land as well as financial support for house construction should also be provided,” he demanded.
Underlining the points raised by the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Tara Chand said that demonetisation in the country and names of those who have deposited large amounts in accounts preceding demonetisation are the key points which are hunting the government.
“Country has been taken for a ride by poorly conceived idea of demonetisation and innocent middle class as well as poor people including women with small savings are the worst sufferers of the drive,” he highlighted.
Lambasting the government on the issues concerning downtrodden and weaker sections of the society, former Deputy Chief Minister said that the denial of reservation in promotion to the reserved category employees clearly depicts that the Govt. does not want to extend the legitimate rights to them. He said that wrong interpretation of stay of Supreme Court on promotion to SC/ST employees has been projected by the government inspite of the fact that the Supreme Court has already stayed the J and K High Court’s order for denial of reservation in promotion.
Describing the rally as ‘Chaurahe-pe-Charcha’ initiative, Tara Chand said that problems and issues of public would be openly discussed so that the present dispensation wakes up from the slumber of inactivity and people come to know about the reality of fake promises which were made to the people of the State. He said that poor and BPL people are facing crisis due to indifferent attitude of the government as the quota of ration and other essential commodities is being denied to them adding that soaring prices have made the life of people extremely difficult and the government should immediately ensure that people get their share of ration.
Calling upon party cadres to be prepared for Panchayat elections, Tara Chand said that the present government has played with the real spirit of 73rd Amendment and local self government concept would get harmed. He said the government should make provisions for bringing at par the number of Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir Division excluding Ladakh.
“BJP is playing politics of deceit and is not even clear on core issues of Article 370, compensation and rights to WP refugees and other such topics,” he added.
Tara Chand also brought to fore the problem of increasing work done liabilities being created in various development oriented projects of RDD, PWD and other line departments. He called upon the authorities to immediately clear the work done liabilities so that the further development does not suffer in the area.
Among others who addressed the rally include former Minister and General Secretary PCC Mula Ram, EX-MLA and General Secretary Th Balwan Singh Manhas, Block President Suram Singh, Secretary PCC Shamsher Singh Chib, Chajju Singh, Madan Lal, Master Harnam Singh, Ashok Khjuria, Jagdish Raj, Romesh Verma, Balbir Sigh, Daljit Singh and Tej Ram.
