Haq for creating mass awareness on cashless transactions

JAMMU: Emphasising the need for intensifying awareness on cashless transactions among masses, Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq asked the officials of Rural Development to take the lead initiative in educating masses about the digital transactions at Panchayat level. The minister said this while chairing a workshop on Public Financial Management System (PFMS) and Management Information System (MIS), here on Sunday.
The minister said the officials of IWMP and RDD can play a proactive role in spreading awareness among people on cashless transaction and in making society cashless. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by government to facilitate and incentivise the cashless means of transactions.
Haq said, with digital revolution sweeping across the nation, it is important to deliver technological services to general public and make them aware about cashless transactions that are safe and secure. In this regard, he said, the government is conducting multiple workshops and training programme with the help of concerned district and local administration where all stakeholders are educated about steps to be followed for adopting this new system. He said the cashless transaction is safe and easy to execute and public needs to be trained for the same.
He said a block-wise schedule and action plan for the training programs have already been chalked out at district level that would further create awareness about the digital payments and cashless transactions. He said people will be trained about cashless system and they would also be made aware of the risks and security issues while using a Digital Payment system.
This one day workshop was organized by State Level Nodal Agency for Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and was attended by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) IWMP, R.A. Inqlabi, Financial Advisor Omkarnath Raina, State Level Technical Expert Dr Mithaas Ahmad and Program Executive Peerzada Tanveer Qadri. During the workshop the participants were made aware about the implementation of public Financial Management System and Management Information System and informed of the benefits/objectives of the system.
The minister was appraised by CEO SLNA about the current status of implementation of PFMS system under Watershed Component of PMKSY and was informed that so far 902 agencies of Watershed Development Component are using PFMS system for cash less transactions through EAT(expenditure Advance and transfer) Module of PFMS.
